The 1923 Main Street® Story

At 1923 Main Street®, every stitch tells a story of discovery and inspiration through travel. Founded in 2013 by Mike Belobradic, our leading brand is a vibrant celebration of the joy found in life's travel adventures.

Growing up with regular vacations to Disney Parks and Resorts, Mike's vision for 1923 Main Street began as a travel company that offered bespoke Disney travel advice to other travelers. As the business grew, 1923 Main Street added a mix of travel-inspired clothing products (at the request of customers), which proved to be a popular part of the business. As the business continued to grow, it also evolved. The licensed apparel and accessories originally being sold became the core part of the 1923 Main Street product offering, and eventually the company was refocused as a shop that exclusively sold officially licensed apparel.

The biggest change came when Mike’s daughter, Amelia, joined him as a fashion consultant. Both Mike and Amelia always had a desire to wear clever graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies that were inspired by the magic of travel, but that didn’t scream anything. There was nothing clever and elegant in the market that lived up to their standards, and so they decided to stop selling licensed apparel and began creating their own exclusive and original line of 1923 Main Street casual wear for travelers: Disney-travel-inspired and travel well beyond.

Sparked with a plan to blend the whimsy of a Disney vacation with a touch of everyday elegance, Mike and Amelia began creating authentic, original trademark graphic creations. While official Disney apparel has its place, Mike and Amelia envisioned something different—a brand that created clothing that whispered of magic rather than shouting it. Unique, original designs that speak to a particular type of traveler.

An Environmentally Responsible Approach to T-Shirts and Apparel at 1923 Main Street

Our core values at 1923 Main Street include taking steps to consider the impact that we have on our global environment.

One important change that we implemented in 2023 — to be an environmentally responsible clothing brand — was to exclusively follow a print-on-demand model for our clothing lines. This means that we do not produce and stock thousands of versions of clothing. This approach is where leftover unsold garments can become a significant problem on our global ecosystem, clogging landfills and weighing on the planet. The images of this situation are sobering.

By following a print-on-demand model at 1923 Main Street, we eliminate the issue of unsold inventory (significantly reducing waste down the line), which reduces carbon emissions associated with our apparel. This has allowed us to offer more efficient production and fulfilment centers, and continually work to source more sustainable clothing materials and production methods.

This is also why all sales at 1923 Main Street are final sale, and also why we have a no-returns or exchanges policy. Please take this into consideration when ordering by carefully reviewing the easy-to-use clothing size guides that we include in every product listing.
